How do u become certified to work as a make-up artist for beauty stores such a M.A.C or Sephora?

i want a job with them. Beauty and make-up is my passion. How do u become certified to work as a make-up artist for beauty stores such a M.A.C or Sephora?

I used to work for Bobbi Brown. You do not have to have any official certification before applying for a job for any of the professional make-up lines such as MAC, Estee Lauder, Chanel, etc.

However, you do need to have the passion for it...(which you do). You can not be afraid to touch people's face(otherwise they will not want to hire you) and be really sweet to customers. You must embrace women and show them you care. This is how you will build a good client base.

You simply need to get your resume together and go by a counter at Belk, Macy's, Dillards, etc (or any other store that has MAC) and ask for an application.

They will give you full training if you have not had training. Make sure to dress professionally and appropriately and show them that you are really excited and that you want to learn everything you can about the beauty industry.

If you do all these things, then you should have no problem. Good luck! How do u become certified to work as a make-up artist for beauty stores such a M.A.C or Sephora?
MAC is much harder to get a job at than Sephora. At MAC you do alot of application work, false lashes and full face makeup. Sephora is more about selling and they rarely do makeovers. If you are really into application, MAC is the way to go. They make you do an hour full face application when you get interviewed. They make you bring someone you know and you must do a day to night look on them. Sephora focuses more on training you on selling the lines, whereas MAC helps to develop you artistry. If you really want to pursue a career as a artist MAC is the way to go. Go to your local MAC Prostore, Macy's or whatever and apply! ****Krystal****
You actually don't have to be a cosmetologist or aesthetician to work at MAC. You just have to show up to an interview with some rockin makeup and confidence in your color theory/makeup application skills. There's a series of interviews, and you'll usually have to apply makeup on one of the girls who works there as a test. If this is what you love to do and you're good at it, there should be no problem. Even if they're not hiring at their store/ counter, they're usually looking for freelance artists.
Just apply like a normal sales job. At the end of the day your there to sell the products. Each counter does their own training programmes. You could be qualified up to the eye balls but if you cant sell and be passionate about the job then they wont want you! If you have a passion for Beauty then you will go far!
At sephora everyone including the store security and cashiers have to take a 1 week course in their headquarters... training is mandatory
