How can i become a M.A.C makeup artist?

I live in San Diego and i know i have to take a cosmetology course but i wanted to know is there a certain school i need to go to become M.A.C certified on top of all that? Any artist's here? If so could you give me some info.How can i become a M.A.C makeup artist?
Generally you for any job working as a makeup artist for a company you need to start working at a counter and learn the line...you have to show exception sales, exceptional customer service/care as well as you are a competent makeup artist. You earn a reputation...once you are offered a job as a traveling make up artist the other companies will notice you..believe me..you will get offers from all the companies as they see and watch you work if you are good.


I started out working for one company and that opened doors to more companies than I could handle.


We booked Thurs, Fri and Sat..many times the girls will double book even though we would tell them please not too..that means I don't even have time to go to the bathroom..I am not kidding..because customers are breathing down your neck...the day goes by fast but it is a driven pace. Then there are the ';horror'; events where the girls book no one and you have sales goals to meet and you have to go and pull people off the floor. NOT FUN. There are aspects of the job that are fantastic but don't be fooled..you have to meet your sales goals and they are HIGH.How can i become a M.A.C makeup artist?
You do not need to go to school to work at a counter, they send you to their training school to learn the ways they want things done and you have to be able to SELL. Although you do get to do makeup, don't kid yourself, it is a sales job and you will have a quota to meet. Very, very few makeup artists actually go to school for it, even the famous ones.
Well it would help to have some experience but being a sales person doesn't really require it, though, I would highly recommend doing it if you're interested in working in a makeup store.
You have to go to MAC and I would go with experience so if that means taking some courses or working else where first. It is one of the hardest lines to get affiliated with though. But it is an awesome one.
